CONCLUSION

Delivered by MWB Ken Robinson, PGM on March 18, 2006

What an honor it is for me to be here today in LuzViMinda Lodge, and to be invited to participate in this ceremony.  Any time an industrious group of Masons such as yourselves have the desire and put forth the effort to establish a new Masonic Lodge, everyone in our Fraternity benefits.  On behalf of all the Masons of Washington, I salute you for your interest, effort, and dedication.  Masonry has grown in our Jurisdiction today.

Our Grand Master, MWB Alvin Jorgensen, has defined his theme this year as "Great Expectations" whereby he encourages the Masons in Washington State to devote the time and effort necessary to expand Freemasonry by working on programs that will not only promote the Fraternity, but show non-Masons we are an organization that promotes the American way of life and assists others in need.  Our Masonic principles define ways in which we can demonstrate how to be good citizens and productive individuals, and have a good time going it.

As a new organization, I suggest you give consideration to the following challenges:  First, to identify and implement some significant objectives that will inspire your membership to greater heights, provide incentives to work hard, and serve as examples for new members entering your ranks.  Secondly, work to attract new members into the Lodge (using accepted Masonic methods of seeking non-Masons, of course), because being able to build on your membership will not only perpetuate the organization, it will provide new ideas and programs that will inspire and continually strengthen this Lodge; and finally, initiate and carry out programs that will attract the interest of your members so they will want to attend Lodge and take part in the activities and events you are sponsoring.

The true secrets of our Craft are not in the ciphers or other forms of communication of one Mason to another.  The true secrets, I believe, are in the heart - that feeling and knowledge that we belong to a brotherhood that cares about each others welfare; a brotherhood whose aim is to help each other and make our communities a peaceful place to live.  The rewards we receive for our membership are the lasting friendships and relationships with each other, and the common fraternal bond we share.

I wish all of you every success in this new adventure.
